Hiking to Yoda's Lair

Posted on July 01, 2013 by Meriwether of Montana

It can't all be chasing elk and landing trout. At least a few times a week our entire family goes on a family hike. Last week we hiked the Little North Fork Falls Trail up near the Canadian Border.

I stumbled across this trail several years ago and it is always a family favorite. This amazing ravine and river system is loaded with frogs and salamanders and all types of other critters that kids love. It is shielded from the sun deep down in a gorge and the result is a unique ecosystem that is always cool and damp -regardless of the weather elsewhere. I like to call it Yoda's Lair since it has such a dark and mossy rainforest type of atmosphere.

The kids love it. There's lot's of boulder to scramble and creeky, eery bridges that cross the river.
